EXPEDITION CLOUDBRIDGE
I helped curate and organise an ambitious expedition to conduct scientific research in the Cloudbridge Reserve of Costa Rica. I was the official conservation photographer, videographer and head of publicity. My role was to create a short film, write blogs, and to document our work through photography.
Summary of our research:
Our primary focus was to look at the relationships between epiphyte communities and different forest types (new growth and old growth) within the cloud forest of Cloudbridge nature reserve. Epiphytes are a community of plants that play a key ecological role in protecting unique species and provide nutritional benefits for flora/fauna within their ecosystem. Acknowledging their biological significance, the purpose of our research was to see how they epiphytes manifest in new growth forests and compare it to the existing old growth forests within the reserve.
Our secondary focus was to create and document a species list of moths on the reserve. We were the first people to explore moth identification here; the significance of this was so that Cloudbridge nature reserve can continue with a comprehensive species list, using our data as a baseline, and to be used as other potential ecological research into moths.
